Sheffield's rich football history has been a major source of articles on Affordable Football over the years, often from Hallam FC as the popularity of an afternoon at the world's oldest football ground has grown and grown, particularly after Covid.
That history is being promoted much more these days, thanks to the work of the Sheffield Home of Football charity, responsible for a number of new plaques around the city, guided walks and more.
The world's oldest club, Sheffield FC, remain hopeful of a move back inside the city boundaries and will look to harness the energy created by the changes, in early 2026, that saw local musician John McClure become chairman.
South Yorkshire Sport covers the grassroots scene every week and, having lived in the city for a quarter of a century now, I think the coverage given to the region's professional clubs on BBC Radio Sheffield is excellent.
