Affordable Football

Welcome to the first post from Affordable Football where I hope to enable you to catch a match in the UK for less by highlighting special ticket offers, reduced prices and promotions from any club at any level of the game.

The inspiration for the site came both positively and negatively from the current woes at my own club, Coventry City.

With the Sky Blues unlikely to be playing in their home city this season, I have been looking further afield for interesting matches to attend.

Also, last season's £5 ticket offers from CCFC for their Johnstone's Paint Trophy games created the kind of exciting atmosphere that has rarely been seen at the Ricoh Arena since it opened with plenty of families able to attend.

That is exactly the kind of offer we hope to highlight.

Affordable Football has been tentatively tweeting over the past month with those offers we have found by searching the web but it is your input that will help hugely.

Anything you see that strikes you as a good offer then please let me know via Twitter (@AffordableFooty) or by emailing affordablefootball@yahoo.co.uk.

As the season now begins in earnest there are some things to look out for in August and September.

Capital One are offering a number of ticket promotions for the opening round of the Capital One Cup. http://www.capitalonecup.co.uk/2for1/

The FA Cup gets underway with lots of opportunities to catch a match locally.

The annual Non-League day takes place on 7th September, a weekend where there are no Premier League or Championship fixtures. http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk/

England's Under-21's are in action at Sheffield United with some good family prices while the Under-17 side play three games at the end of August at Burton Albion with tickets only £1.50 for adults. Details on the official websites of those two clubs.

Anything else that you see, please get in touch. In the Football League quite a few teams seem to have adopted the 'dynamic pricing' strategy and it will be interesting to hear supporters' views on that.
