New Investment Brings New Impetus At Southport FC

Following his appointment to the board of directors at Southport FC and a recent investment in the club, the arrival of Phil Hodgkinson has seen a concerted effort to reach out to lapsed supporters and attract new ones to the Merseyside club.

Prior to Saturday's home game against Kidderminster Harriers in the National League North, season tickets were relaunched for the 2017/18 campaign, costing £110 for an Adult on the terraces and offering 17 matches for the price of 8.

And for Tuesday evening's visit of Harrogate Town to the Merseyrail Community Stadium, 1,000 free or discounted tickets have been made available, the first 500 costing nothing and the next 500 priced at £4.

It is all part of what is being called a 'thorough re-engagement process' with both existing fans and the town itself.

Speaking to the Southport Visiter newspaper, Phil Hodgkinson said: "We are embarking on a new chapter in the History of Southport Football Club, it is time for those fans who have stayed away and also drifted away in recent years, to come back."
