Alfreton Town gained an excellent victory over Braintree in the Skrill Premier this weekend, backed by a crowd of 904 against 496 for the corresponding fixture last season.
Prices had been cut for the game in a bid to determine whether Alfreton had the potential fan base to compete at the top level of the game outside the Football League and a 'bumper crowd' was the verdict on the official website although the club had been hoping for 1,000+ through the gates.
Following on from our post about Affordable Football at Christmas, meanwhile, Tranmere Rovers have designated that tickets for their home game on Friday 20th December against Gillingham will be available for just £5 in all home areas of the ground.
Tranmere Chief Executive Mick Horton said: “It’s the last home game before Christmas and we want to make it as easy as possible for our fans to come to the match so we are pleased to be able to reduce admission to just £5."
