In the top-flight, Accies marked 10 years of service from departing manager Alex Neil and assistant Frankie McAvoy by making the game against Inverness Caley Thistle just 10 pence to get in.
The move caught the attention of many north of the border and social media was busy all afternoon with people praising the club and tales of more money being paid at the turnstiles than just the necessary admission fee.
5,089 came through the gate with a healthy Inverness contingent making the journey just days after their own 'Pay What You Want' match against St Johnstone.
To offer a comparison, the first meeting of the two sides this season at New Douglas Park in August, drew a crowd of 1,622.
